Hey, it's Unnie here!
I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. This city holds my heart, my roots, and my people. With my loved ones all around me, I honestly can’t imagine living anywhere else.
How did you get started in dance, and were there any specific moments or people that inspired you to pursue it professionally?
My mum got me into dance when I was about five, and funny enough, she was more supportive of my dancing than my studies. She’s always been my biggest cheerleader and still is to this day. I actually dreamed of becoming a professional ballerina, it was the first style she enrolled me in, and her constant support and belief in me has always been my biggest inspiration.
Name some muses that keep you motivated — not specifically dancers.
Travis Scott, CL from 2NE1, Megan Thee Stallion, Glorilla, Hwasa and FKA Twigs.
What does a usual day look like for you when you’re dancing?
On my way to the studio, I always stop by my regular café gotta grab my coffee, a Red Bull, and either an açaí smoothie or some food. Once I get to the studio, I walk in like it’s my second home. I head straight to the fridge, pack away my food, and sit down with my coffee while music plays in the background. That’s my moment to breathe, gather my thoughts, and plan out my choreography and training.
Then comes the warm-up usually 40 to 50 minutes these days, because let’s be real, my body isn’t what it was two years ago. I used to be good to go after 15 minutes, but hitting 26 hits different.
Once I’m stretched and ready… that’s when I lock the fuck with a Redbull in my hand, of course.
Can you share a unique or memorable moment you’ve had whilst dancing?
When the whole crew comes in to train together at Studio Pole where I train at. It’s pretty hard for all of us to find time together but it’s the best thing ever! Just a lot of yapping and support!
How do you maintain your energy and fitness while travelling? Do you have any go-to routines or meals?
I know this is something what dietician wouldn’t like but it’s my Redbull. It just became my ritual and a habit to drink it before or while I train. But don’t you worry, I only drink it once.
I wouldn’t recommend it to you all but it definitely gives me wings and they should sponsor me by now hahaha.
What are some of the most exciting or rewarding projects you’ve worked on in your career so far?
My Hardstyle routine from 2023 pushed me completely out of my comfort zone. At the time, I had very little knowledge of pole repertoire. I didn’t know how to flow around the pole, thread my legs through, or perform many tricks, even after three years of pole dancing.
So, I locked myself in the studio alone and started studying. I found inspiration by watching dancers like Anela Kuzmina, Haruna, and other icons in the pole world. I picked up tricks from Instagram here and there, and slowly started piecing together the elements that made pole work dynamic and expressive.
That’s when I asked myself, ‘What does Hardstyle mean to me?’
This project became more than just choreography, it was a turning point. It helped me go beyond limitation, using what I’d learned online as a foundation to discover what I could bring to the table. I began to truly understand my body and how I move, and through that, I felt like a new version of myself.
What I loved most about this project was witnessing my own growth. It reminded me that the most powerful transformation happens when you choose to show up for yourself.
Have you had the opportunity to work with any artists or choreographers who have significantly impacted your career?
No I have not but there is an artist I want to work with which is Camiarboles. Watching her work inspires me deeply and it creates a big impact with my career because her journey inspires me the most.
Can you share any particularly challenging or gratifying performances or choreography you’ve been involved with?
This routine was inspired by the incredible @itsjustvica her artistry made me feel vulnerable in the most beautiful way. It struck something deep in me, and I felt the need to translate that emotion into movement.
I poured my time, blood, sweat, and soul into this piece to the point where I’d have bruises all over my body every week. But something still felt off in the lead-up. I tried not to let that feeling take over.
I had a strong rehearsal and felt ready… but during my performance, my shoe broke. I was hit with shock and anger, but I kept going.
The hardest part was not being able to perform the way I wanted to feel. Not being able to express the emotion I built this piece around.
But despite everything, I’m proud I didn’t stop. I kept moving forward. And sometimes, that’s enough.
What are you currently working on or planning for the future?
I’m currently building a floorwork community called @floorlab__ a space where we show up not just to dance, but to connect, grow, and fuck it up together.
My purpose is to create a space that’s safe, hype, and real where we can be vulnerable, sensual, raw, and empowered all at once. A space where we can fully express who we are, without judgment.
I don’t just want to teach.
I want to grow with this community, both as a dancer and as a person. I want us to call each other up when we’re struggling with choreography, link up to jam, and exchange honest feedback to keep evolving or call each other about our breakups
This isn’t just a class you take and forget. This is a community you come back to because of the support, the energy, the friendships, and the love you feel every time you step in.
I have failed to build it twice when doing it with other people but this time I’m going to do it in a way I truly believe in and build a team where we support and believe in each other.
Do you have any upcoming performances or collaborations that you’re excited about?
There is a performance I’m mostly excited about but it’s a hush hush for now it’s a competition running next year but this will be my first time competing with back up dancers and my sister will be dancing with me.
So I’m more excited to share the stage with my sister.
How do you stay motivated and inspired when working on new projects or routines?
I doom scroll but not mindlessly. When I come across something I like, I save it into folders named after projects or routines I want to work on. It’s a way of collecting inspiration with intention.
But not all inspiration lives in your phone. It’s everywhere, in conversations with friends where ideas bounce off like sparks, or even at competitions when you ask yourself, ‘What if she did that the other way around?’
I also love training with friends nearby. We hype each other up, give honest feedback, and yap about what looks best. That kind of support fuels growth.
What are some of your favourite dancewear or accessories that you can’t live without?
I love bikini sets, so which are my pink and blue pillow talk satin sets and my white HOAH clasp Miami white sparkly sets.
Which CXIX garments that you love/find especially useful or comfortable for dancing?
My bikini sets Hahaha. I’m just a bikini type of girl
Do you have any essential items you always bring with you when travelling or on tour?
My journal! I have it everywhere with me. Always trying to manifest and be the better self.
When is your birthday?
