Hi, I'm London James!

Hi! I’m London James and I’m from Perth, Australia ☀️

How did you get started in dance, and were there any specific moments or people that inspired you to pursue it professionally?

In 2010 I came across classes at Bobbi’s Pole Studio Perth and thought pole would be fun to try - it was love at first spin and I’ve been addicted ever since! After six years as a student I was being considered for a teaching role at Bobbis once a position came available (super rare!). Ruby (my instructor) then heard that I’d been offered a teaching role at a new studio that was opening so she gave up one of her classes to allow me on the timetable and to be a part of the Bobbi’s pole fam I grew up with ❤️

Name some muses that keep you motivated — not specifically dancers.

Travel in general, I always return super motivated and inspired but also haute couture fashion, rhythmic gymnasts, art, talking with people who are passionate about what they do, sparkly things

What does a usual day look like for you when you’re dancing?

For me right now as I’m just training only - a good sleep in and a late start because I function better at night

Can you share a unique or memorable moment you’ve had whilst dancing?

There’s so many but a recent one I love is the mushroom reveal for my character Peach in Pole Icon last year. We wanted Mario and Luigi to eat the mushrooms but in a fun and sexy pole way so we tied them to my butt to give Peach a BBL then added a ton of extra fabric wrapped under the skirt so Bowser could tear it off and I would keep spinning on the ring while it was coming off! We only got one chance to practice this part so I’m glad it worked out perfect in the end 😄

How do you maintain your energy and fitness while travelling? Do you have any go-to routines or meals?

Maccas cheeseburgers & vitamin C and magnesium powder at night… oh and ice lattes! 😂

What are some of the most exciting or rewarding projects you’ve worked on in your career so far?

Being invited as an icon to Pole Icon and creating a trio supergroup with my girls, Mel Grace and Ruby - I’m so proud of the creative, OTT routines we have created for Icon. It’s hard work putting a trio routine together with a full story line, theme, tricks and costume reveals within 4 mins and alongside managing training with 3 very different schedules

Also competing on the Miss Pole Dance Australia stage was so exciting and such a dream experience. 😆❤️

Have you had the opportunity to work with any artists or choreographers who have significantly impacted your career?

Ruby (fellow instructor at Bobbi’s Pole Studio) - she saw potential in me and nurtured me as an instructor and performer - she has changed my life and I’m forever grateful 🫶

Can you share any particularly challenging or gratifying performances or choreography you’ve been involved with?

The most challenging was definitely a Bobbi’s Amateur Pole Queen opening number where we had 10 performers and had to do multiple different walking sequences in sync, while holding each other and in 8 inch heels - surprisingly tricky

What are you currently working on or planning for the future?

Currently I can’t commit to teaching regular classes due to a change in job so I’m taking this time to focus on my own pole journey so I can come back to teaching in the future with lots of new things to share with my students! I’m also training aerial chains and would love to do a chains performance in the future.

Do you have any upcoming performances or collaborations that you’re excited about?

Yess! Dirty Dingo’s Halloween special shows (31st Oct & 1st Nov) The Aussie version of Coyote Ugly that blend immersive theatre, chaos, dances, games and unapologetic fun - if you’re in Perth come watch!

How do you stay motivated and inspired when working on new projects or routines?

This is actually something I tend to struggle with - generally I go all in and focus on one thing to the detriment of everything else till that thing is done… which isn’t super healthy so I’m working to have more balance and rest in my life to ensure I don’t burn myself out and can stay motivated in a healthy way 😊

What are some of your favourite dancewear or accessories that you can’t live without?

Shaving cream, I’m addicted 😭

Which CXIX garments that you love/find especially useful or comfortable for dancing?

I LOVE the whole Aphrodite line - the triangle bra and high waist bottoms when I want a super comfy fit and the bodysuits at all other times (especially the new rhinestone drip versions cause blingggg 😍✨) Also special mention to the Classique doubled up top, so comfy!
