WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR FIRST POLE DANCING CLASS
You’ve done your research and secured your spot at a local pole studio. You saved your fave pole and flexy videos from Instagram and TikTok — now what?
We want to make sure you’re equipped with the best for your first pole dancing class, so we created this guide to send you off with pro tips and good vibes for the beginning of your pole journey and beyond!
Take it from us — we’re a brand founded by a pole dancer, instructor and former exotic dancer, with plenty of our staff and ambassadors being pole dancing professionals and enthusiasts!
THE OUTFIT
We recommend wearing a supportive sports bra and short bottoms. Skin contact is what allows you to latch onto the pole safely, so wear something with no fuss and of course, keeps you comfy!
Check out our fave picks of fits that provide coverage, support, and make you look and feel fire!
PROTECT YO SELF
Your first class won’t make you invert just yet! However, you may be acquainted with some basic moves from the floor or floorwork.
You might also start getting “pole kisses” (…bruises) that are inevitable when you pole dance.
We recommend wearing kneepads that are easy to take on and off, all while offering superior protection.
Bonus: these will also be super helpful as you progress and learn new moves and tricks!
GET GRIPPY
Your first lesson got you nervous and sweaty? We’ve got antiperspirant pole grip that not only improves grip, but feels good, smells good, and looks good too (G L I T T E R S). Get that incredible pole grip without that chalky and drying residue, but with all the glamorous feels!
WARM UP & STRETCH
We want to set you up for success out here! We know all too well that strength, flexibility, and cross-training beyond pole class will help you achieve your goals and prevent injuries. Take a travel-friendly stretch & warmup kit or do it all from the comfort of your own home.
GETTING A FEW INCHES AHEAD
Feeling confident and inspired by pole dancers in sky-high heels? We can safely get you there with Hella Heels, in 6” & 7” heels that offer creative styles, superior quality and durability, ultimate comfort, and are vegan with recycled packaging!
...AND DON'T FORGET THESE
Aside from the above, here are other important items to bring with you:
✖ Plenty of water or your choice of hydrating liquids
✖ Towel to keep you dry and stay grippy
✖ Change of clothes for after the class
✖ Good to bring: notebook and pen to take notes and insights
Do NOT wear moisturizer or lotion! This will make you slip and slide on the pole and might get you hurt as you learn new moves.
We hope you have so much fun and take care in your first pole class!
Feel free to tag us in your photos and videos or send us a DM on socials. We love seeing you shine and thrive.
